Herculean Efforts, Warren Zevon Dies

I'm biking to work most days, and the other day as I cross Jeff Davis on Canal I see they're working on restoring/repairing the statues in the esplanade. A large sign announces "RESTORATIONS BY MONUMENTAL CLEANUP EFFORT". Must be more work than it looks like...

I also read today that Warren Zevon died after a long battle with lung cancer. He'll be missed. My favorite song is probably Carmelita, but he had so many good ones.

Cruising Target, no Chinese Delivery

So Tonya and I are looking for a happy hour on Friday night, which never appears. Evidently, everyone heads home right after work.  Without anything else to do, we decide to head up to Target and knock out a little shopping (shelves for the bathroom, etc), then grab dinner and a movie.  Turns out that evidently the Target store on Veteran's in Metarie is the place to hang out if you're a teenager and it's the weekend. I don't mean hang out in the parking lot, or hang out in the attached mall, I mean walk around in gaggles of 6 or so and check out the groups of the opposite sex while in the clothing section, or housewares.

Sunday night, after working all day, Tonya and I decide we'll do the usual Sunday night ritual for us - order some Chinese delivery and watch TV. Easier said than done. WE CAN"T FIND ANY CHINESE DELIVERY IN LAKEVIEW OR METARIE. There's a lot of pickup places, but no one delivers. IF you ask, they look at you like you have a second head sprouting from your shoulders. Incredible.
